Many Graphic Designers today bundle in ‘Search engine optimisation’ with their invoices & costs, but some may not even provide any SEO within your website at all, or at least not the rudimentary SEO which should be included within every web page, which is imperative as you need people to find your website!

SEO is all about targeting specific keywords and linking your site to other sites, mainly with Google, the best search engine. It’s imperative to your website or business website to let Google (and other search engines) know you’re there. If you can provide enough juicy keywords and other content, Google will think “Oh these guys are important, we shall push them up the rankings” ; In a very vague nutshell that is.

While SNAYER is not a SEO specialist (and doesn’t claim to be), Good and basic SEO is included when we design websites. Right off the bat we use WordPress for the majority of our sites, which is one of the best content management systems going today. Not only does this let our graphic design clients play around with their own interfaces, changing text and gallery pictures without the need for contacting us, but every single page has it’s own in-built SEO components. Each page of a website has ‘Titles’, ‘Keywords’ and ‘Descriptions’. These elements can be tailored to your website’s content. If you are selling paintings for example, it would be wise to include ‘bespoke paintings, UK’ in your Titles & keywords, this way search engines see you and you have a better chance of being noticed. If you enjoy talking about your business or craft, another excellent thing to mention is that you can blog with WordPress; this is essentially a way of publishing new pages for your site. Each new blog post will again, have it’s own titles, keywords and descriptions. This way, you can target more and more specific keywords, the more pages you have, the bigger you will appear to Google and other search engines, and the better chance you have of being higher in the rankings. There’s a fair bit more to SEO, but they are the ‘big three’ (not including back links of course).

This isn’t new, and is common knowledge to the SEO Crowd, but it’s worth mentioning to you that we do cover the SEO basics here at SNAYER. We won’t ever claim that we can get you to #1 on Google, but our methods will certainly get you going. We have seen some websites that have been designed for businesses and have noticed that they include no Titles & Descriptions and have minimal content to ‘clock up’ on Google, which is extremely worrying!
